What do I get with the BionX electric bike kit?
The Box
BionX electric bike systems come with everything needed to add electric power assist to your bicycle in one small, lightweight box.
The box measures about 28 x 28 x 9 inches and weights about 23 to 32 pounds depending on configuration.
We repack every system before shipping to avoid and possibility of shipping damage.
We ship all of our BionX systems and replacement parts also with insurance for the total value of the system, just to be safe.
Inside the box
Everything is safely packaged and taped or zip-tied to a honeycomb cardboard-backing.
We use closed cell 1/2" packing foam to repack all items within the BionX electric motor kit.
All items in this system have been tested by a NYCeWheels technician to provide a hassle-free experience for our customers.
We also leave the bubble-wrap in there which is great fun to pop while waiting for the battery to fully charge up.
The BionX motor
This picture shows a 26 inch BionX motor which is available in different wheel sizes. In addition to final testing, our Mechanics usually also checks the rim if it needs to be trued.
The motor comes in 250 watt, 350 watt and 500 watt configurations. All motors look the same on the outside but have a slightly different weight - due to different gauge wiring.
The timing key on the BionX motor comes set for a standard 15 degree forward dropout.
The Battery
All BionX batteries are now only available in Lithium. There are slimmer, lower capacity Lithium batteries, as well as larger, longer range batteries.
On the PL350 and the PL500, there is an option to order the Rear Rack battery, which slides easily into a double-tiered rack. The best choice for weight distribution, however, is the universal water-bottle mount, available for every kit.
The battery comes with a set of 2 keys. Every battery model can be removed and charged separate from the bike.
The Charger
This image shows a Lithium 24 volt battery charger which runs on 90-240 volts so it can be used all around the world.
Most BionX chargers look similar, with the voltage output being the sole difference.
The charger of course comes with the required power-cord not shown in the picture.
Battery bracket
The battery bracket included with a standard water-bottle mount battery screws into the main frame of the bike using the attached hardware, and has cabling that runs to both the motor as well as the console. On the rear-rack battery (pictured), the bracket is built into the rack, making the installation slightly easier. If neither of these mounting styles will work with your bike, we have custom-fabricated brackets that fit to even the strangest of bike frames.
Console
The new G2 Console by BionX is an updated version of the older command console. The display screen is larger, showing the assist level, battery gauge, and speed. The controller with the thumb throttle and '+' and '-' buttons for assist levels can be mounted separately - an ideal choice for recumbent riders.
The BionX dash-panel usually come pre-configured for the correct wheel size that shipped with your system.
Hardware kit
All hardware required to install the
BionX electric bike motor is included in your kit. The hardware kit also includes the user guide and installation instructions.
Stretchy velcro covers and cable guides are included as well
