With titanium parts, this bike is made even lighter. The rear triangle of the frame, the fork, the seat post, folding pedal bolt, and the mudguard stays are all titanium to save on weight. The rest of the frame is the standard steel.
The Schwalbe Stelvio Light tires are narrow, durable, and slick, making for a fast ride, similar in feel to a road bike. This model includes fenders to protect your garments from any mud or water on the road.
The S2L-X also comes equipped with the Vitesse saddle. The Vitesse saddle is narrow and firm, allowing for effortless changes in riding position and reducing chaffing on your legs. Like any good road bike saddle, it offers a slight decrease in comfort for an increase in performance.
The S2L-X is the lightest production Brompton. If you're looking for a superbly light folding bike that you can carry anywhere with ease and that rides like a road bike, the S2L-X is the bike for you. This is as good as it gets.
About the tires...
Tires can make or break a ride. The wrong tires can make a bike feel sluggish and uncomfortable. We stock our Bromptons with the best tires available for their specific purpose. Schwalbe Stelvio Light tires offer extremely light weight, little rolling resistance, and a slick tread for increased speed. With a kevlar bead and other fine materials, these tires are more durable than the average racing tire. If you want your Brompton to ride like a road bike, fast and light, then the Stelvio Light tires are the tires you need. They let you ride with confidence on any road, and add to the overall Brompton experience.
Important note: Unlike the other models, the S-Type Bromptons will only work with one of the four front-loading bags: the S-Bag. All other front-loading bags will interfere with the turning of the handlebar on the S-Type Bromptons. Keep this in mind before purchasing accessories.
