Riding on a Brooks leather saddle for the first few weeks is a bit more uncomfortable than you'd expect. This is because the leather allows for a "breaking-in" period, where it stretches and conforms to fit you just right. Afterward, you're left with the most comfortable, form-fitting saddle that's able to be attached to a bicycle. There really is nothing like a broken-in Brooks saddle.
During the "break-in" period, your Brooks saddle will stretch and wear, so they offer this Proofide Dressing to treat and condition the leather. Apply this to the top side of the saddle and allow it to soak into the material and dry. Then, polish it off with a soft cloth. Do this several times while you're breaking it in, and then once every three to six months afterward.
Keep your Brooks saddle in good shape, and you'll be rewarded with the most comfortable ride you can get.
