Stromer ST1 - Learn about the new Stromer

The Stromer ST1 represents a new leap forward in electric bicycle design and technology. The Swiss company has spent years refining and and polishing their finest model and it's finally made it to the US Market!

What makes a ST1 so great? First off, you have a performance tuned 500 watt motor with the best in Lithium-ion battery technology to back it up. The off-the-line acceleration of the ST1 is unmatched. Remarkably this powerful assistance engages smoothly whenever you start to pedal. It really feels like you've just got super powered legs!

Match that electric system with responsive Magura MT2 hydraulic disc brakes, a custom Carbon Fork, and Schwalbe Big Ben tires - you've got an electric bike that is just guaranteed to make you laugh with joy on the first ride. Stromer did a fantastic job on the design of this bike.

ST1 Elite

ST1 Elite

The ST1 Elite is powered by Stromer's "Mountain 33" motor, specifically designed to deliver maximum torque when starting and climbing hills. The max speed of 20 mph is plenty for most folks - most people pedal a bike around 12-15 mph anyway - and the torque will really be of use to you if you're worried about pulling weight being an issue with the bike. Stromer cites this model being particularly useful if you need to pull a heavy trailer.

Stromer ST1 Elite At A Glance:

  • Lightweight carbon rigid fork
  • 11 AH Lithium battery
  • 9 speeds Shimano Sora
  • High torque 20 mph motor

ST1 Platinum

ST1 Platinum

Boy did this bike surprise me! I felt like I needed a full wind screen when I first rocketed by the front of the shop at 30 mph.

The ST1 Platinum is unique among the bikes we sell for the simple reason that it can do 30 mph with pedaling thanks to Stromer's "Power 48" motor. This does classify it for "off-road use only" in a bunch of states (including our hometown NYC) and we'd recommend caution if riding the bike in traffic. Stromer's "Power 48" motor delivers the higher speed by compromising a bit on low speed torque. That means it has a little less kick and acceleration off-the-line compared to the ST1 Elite.

The Platinum model uses a larger capacity 14.5Ah lithium-ion battery to support the extra power draw from the fast motor. This is the bike to replace your car for commutes that just have to be as fast as possible.

  • High speed 30 mph motor
  • 14.5 AH Lithium battery
  • 27 speeds Shimano XT
  • Option of Carbon rigid or Suspension fork

ST1 Battery System

ST1 Elite

One of the coolest things about the Stromer ST1 is how you can slide the battery right out of the frame. This makes it easy for you to charge your battery at home or at work (if you're commuting). The ST1 battery weighs just 6.6 lbs and is very easy to work with. The charge time is about 5-6 hours, which is pretty standard across all our models.

ST1 Features

ST1 Elite I'm sure you agree it's important to be able to come to a quick stop when riding such a powerful ebike. Stromer equips their ST1s with Magura MT2 Hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes are a perfect match to the bike because they allow you to come to a quick stop if needed but also have a lot of modulation in case you just want to bleed off a little speed. Hydraulic disc brakes are particularly convenient because they require very little maintenance, just the occasional brake pad replacement.

The Carbon fork is standard on the ST1 Elite and optional on the ST1 Platinum. I was a bit skeptical of a Carbon fork on an electric bike at first but as I became more familiar with the bike and rode it I found I really enjoy the rigid fork. It offers a very confident feeling, especially in turns, and improves the riding quality for on road use by holding the bike steady when pedaling rather than bouncing up and down like a suspension fork.

Still, a suspension fork offers unbeatable comfort - especially if you're going to use your ST1 in varied road surfaces where bumps may be more prominent.

Excited? Purchase your own Stromer ST1 and you can be flying down the road in no time!
