It's fairly simple, as you might imagine, but there are a few things you can do to get extra functionality out of your Brompton folding bike or save a little weight if you're in between options. For riders up to 5' 10" a standard seat post will be fine. For riders over 5'10" an extended or telescopic seat post may be necessary. How do you know which one?
Extended Brompton seat post: this seat post will fit riders up to 6' 6" with good leg extension. The seat will stick up a bit higher than when the Brompton is folded however. So if you know folding your Brompton folding bike to the smallest size possible will be crucial to your happiness you should consider going with the telescopic seat post.
Telescopic Brompton seat post: this seat post will fit riders up to 6' 6" AND allow you to fold your Brompton all the way up. With a smaller seat tube nestled within a larger one you can collapse your folding bike all the way down without sacrificing proper leg extension.
