Good morning! Some good news finally in the #ebike world. These bills are the change we need. Thank you to all the people supporting these bills and helping to pass them. The only unrealistic one would be converting the delivery bikes to legal versions, this would be very difficult at a large scale. It would essentially take thousands of new controllers and displays for these bikes to cut off at 20mph like a proper class 2 ebike (and to actually show speed on the display to prove it). A trade in program would be more effective, and would also boost local businesses like ours if the riders are given a path to getting on legal E-bikes without having to pay full price for a new one if they receive credit for their “illegal” ebike. That being said, let’s hope the throttle shaming is finally going to be put to rest. Throttles are fun, class 2 ebikes are no more hazardous than class 1 (or 3 for that matter) and certainly no more hazardous than the thousands of reckless drivers that put cyclists of all kinds in harms way on a daily basis on our city streets. #ebikenyc #visionzero #legalizeit #electricbike #nycewheels #progress #change 29.11.2018 - 15:14
